When I heard about Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2019, I was inspired to compose a theme to pitch to Marvel Studios to potentially compose the film's score. It combines the heroic orchestral theme that you'd expect from a Marvel superhero film, with Chinese instrumentation that you'd expect to hear in a kung fu movie, along with contemporary hip-hop elements.
This is the pitch video that I sent, detailing my lifelong love of Marvel, how I cowrote a song with Stan Lee, my excitement to see an Asian superhero, and why representation in the film industry is so important to me. Composing a Marvel movie score would be a lifelong dream come true for this Marvel super fan, and perhaps one day it could happen?
